Install on phone or tablet

Bedrock add-ons open directly in Minecraft on iPhone, iPad and Android.

Bedrock: download → open → play

  1. In your project, open Release Center. Prepare Minecraft add-on, then tap Download to save the .mcaddon file. Keep its .mcaddon extension; do not unzip it.
  2. iPhone / iPad: open Files → Downloads and tap the file. If needed, use Share and choose Minecraft. Android: open Downloads, tap the file and choose Minecraft.
  3. Wait for Minecraft to confirm the import. Create or edit a world, activate the add-on under Behavior Packs and Resource Packs, then enter the world.

If Minecraft is missing from the app choices, install or update Minecraft Bedrock on this device and try opening the downloaded file again. Your browser may ask where to save it.

Import and activation happen in Minecraft. The website cannot bypass your device’s file-opening confirmation.

Advanced: Java server source installation

Computer-server (Java) downloads are for server owners and do not install on phones or tablets.

1. Install Java JDK 17
Plugins are Java programs, so your computer needs the Java builder tools (JDK 17) to compile them. Download it free from adoptium.net and run the installer. If you already have Java, check it is version 17 or newer.
2. Compile the source into a .jar
The ZIP you exported contains Java source code, not a finished plugin. Install Maven from maven.apache.org (or open the folder in IntelliJ IDEA / Eclipse), then run "mvn clean package" in the folder that holds pom.xml. When it finishes, the compiled plugin file (a .jar) is in the target/ folder.
3. Drop the .jar into plugins/
Copy the .jar file from the target/ folder into the plugins/ folder of your Minecraft server (Bukkit, Spigot, or Paper). Do not copy the whole ZIP; the server only needs the single .jar file.
4. Restart the server
Restart your server and it loads the plugin automatically. You should see your plugin's name in the startup log, and its commands and events start working in-game.

Every exported ZIP also includes a README.txt with these same steps, your plugin's name, and its base package.
